Practical Information & The Client Experience
Lexington Counseling: Personality & Career Assessment is a boutique private pay practice that offers a variety of services ranging from individual therapy sessions to administration and interpretation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to comprehensive career assessment utilizing the Strong Interest Inventory.
Located in the heart of the Chevy Chase neighborhood in Lexington, our office is within easy walking distance for students living on the University of Kentucky’s campus; however, if you are visiting us from elsewhere in town, we have our own parking lot at the rear of the building for our clients’ convenience.
We offer the option of in person or virtual sessions to accommodate our clients’ busy schedules when necessary. While we offer the option of virtual sessions, Lexington Counseling & Assessment values the connection made during in person sessions as we find in person sessions improve accountability and the therapeutic relationship.
Caitlin also handles all of her own scheduling and is easily accessible via text, email, or phone call - making communication and scheduling as seamless as possible.
Our practice is private-pay only, accepting credit, debit, and FSA/HSA. For recurring therapy clients, we offer the ability to securely store your payment information to make check out as easy as possible.
For clients purchasing assessments, we request payment prior to your assessment so we can secure the necessary testing materials for your use. Please see our Services & Pricing page for a full list of our services and their rates.
At Lexington Counseling & Assessment, we value hospitality and strive to create a warm, personal, and welcoming environment as we understand the client’s experience impacts client engagement and ultimately the success of the therapeutic process.
Individual Therapy Sessions
Caitlin Goodan, LPCA has worked with a wide range of clients, but specializes in therapy for teens and young adults (ages 12+). Caitlin practices from a person centered approach while utilizing elements of CBT and mindfulness to round out the client’s care.
Caitlin’s approach to therapy is relaxed and easy-going, often utilizing humor and laughter as a therapeutic tool as she builds trust and rapport with the client. While Caitlin takes a laid-back approach to therapy, she will also challenge clients when it is beneficial for them. Caitlin will help clients to identify and understand the root cause of their feelings; challenge the thought patterns that perpetuate these feelings; and develop practical coping skills ultimately leading to successful completion of therapy.
A few of Caitlin’s specialties include:
Therapy for anxiety for teens and young adults
Therapy for life transitions for teens and young adults
Therapy for personal growth for teens and young adults

Personality Assessment
In addition to career assessment, Lexington Counseling & Assessment also offers personality assessment services utilizing:
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Step I and Step II)
Big 5 Personality Trait Assessment
The Strong Interest Indicator
Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children
Personality Assessments are a valuable tool for increasing self-awareness and better understanding:
How you relate to your own internal world
How you receive information
How you make decisions
How you relate to the outside world
How you prefer to communicate with others
Personality assessment is helpful in particular for couples/familial relationships by providing objective language to discuss differences in personal preferences, making interpersonal conflict and differences less personal. This can be a great first step before committing to or beginning couples or family therapy. Those who can benefit from our personality assessment services include:
Individuals
Couples, familial relationships (2 person)
Professionals in the work environment
Teens
Children
As a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Indicator, and Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children practitioner, Caitlin possesses access to the aforementioned assessments and is trained to administer the assessments, interpret the results, and answer any questions you may have about your results. Please see our Services & Pricing page for more information about the variety of personality and career assessment services we provide.
